video standards

Readers should note that there are 2 major video standards used worldwide NTSC/PAL - These ARE NOT compatible directly with each other, and you are advised to read further before making any purchase

[this information should be read in conjunction with you VCR manual]

PAL VHS

MOST videos featured on this site are PAL (UK) VHS tapes, and will work on the majority of VCR's in the following locations: Europe, Australia, New Zealand and many other regions

MANY newer VCR's have multi-standard playback as a standard feature and are able to playback the alternative system for viewing on a standard TV. This is often indicated by 'NTSC'/'PAL' written adjacent to a 'VHS' logo printed on the facia of the VCR

Please check the following table for general information on whether your VCR likely has the facility to play back the relevant format

[extra information]

CATALOGUE NO. - video reference, IMPORTANT when more than one release of a certain title - to assist, please quote this when enquiring about an item

RUN-TIME - approximate running time as quoted on the video sleeve

EXTRA INFORMATION - various extra information about this particular release (i.e. number of tapes in box set)

PRICE - the important bit, if 'AUCTION' appears in this box, then the item is currently ONLY available through our auctions. '-HELD-' means that somebody is currently interested in that item and that is Held for them. [see base of this page for additional information on our auction policy]

BROADCASTER/INFO - channel or production company for original UK broadcast/ video information which may not be immeadiately obvious (i.e. Video Company), can be particularly useful if more than one company has had rights to release a series of videos (i.e. The Avengers/ The Professionals)

STATUS - Information about the history of this particular video:

'pre-viewed' - the tape has been watched, many are from private collections, with minimum wear, may have been watched once, or more

[CHECKED FOR PLAYBACK QUALITY]

'unviewed' - not viewed/ new, though may not be factory sealed

[MANY DISTRIBUTORS DO NOT WRAP THEIR TAPES]

video packaging

The majority of videos are in plastic 'clamshell' cases, with a glossy insert cover (featuring artwork/photos/video information) unless stated otherwise (i.e.'NO COVER' - meaning in a case, but the insert sleeve is missing)

(NTSC releases are commonly in card sleeve cases, rather than 'clamshell' packaging, this is normal for these releases - NTSC 'pre-viewed' tapes have no history, and could be 'ex-rental' and may have video store stickers on the case/tape - please ask for details) [ALL CHECKED FOR PLAYBACK QUALITY]

Please ask about any items you are interested in; although most tapes featured are the *ONLY COPY* we have of that title, we do occassionally have additional copies/ alternate releases.

refund policy

In the unlikely event that you believe you need to return an item, please contact us via e-mail: britvidz@freeola.com

quoting you original ORDER REFERENCE and the nature of the fault.

IMPORTANT: Please DO NOT return any goods unless authorised to do so.

The following are non-refundable:

- shipping costs charged at time of purchase

- shipping cost of returning goods

(we will refund shipping costs if a return is a result of an error on our part)

- goods which have become damaged due to misuse or neglect

- goods which cannot be identified as having originated from us

- goods returned for reasons of incompatibility with purchasers equipment

REFUNDS WILL ONLY BE CONSIDERED WITHIN 28DAYS OF PURCHASE

testing

We test every faulty return, if a returned item is found not to be faulty on our equipment we will return the item to you upon payment of an appropriate shipping charge. (where inclusive shipping was included at time of purchase, we will request an appropriate charge for returning non-faulty goods to you)

We advise you to check any VHS/DVD on a DIFFERENT make and model of player before requesting any return. We regret that we are unable to offer a refund for any equipment incompatibility (this includes TV SYSTEM and DVD REGION CODING)

restocking fee

A fee of not greater than 20% will be charged on any "unauthorised" returns. This fee is necessary in order for us to keep our costs and prices down. Most customers never return items. When items are returned in a lesser condition than when dispatched them we have to sell them as "Previewed" and often at below our original cost. If not paid by those who returned them, the additional costs would have to be "shared" by others, which we do not believe is fair.

A restocking fee will normally be charged only on "NEW" items where the following rules apply:

- goods have been viewed

- goods are not returned in the original manufacturers packaging or sealed (where goods were supplied as such when shipped)

- goods been defaced, marked or mutilated in some way.

ALL "Previewed" items have been checked for playback quality prior to dispatch and are sold "as is". Any returned item which we believe is in a lesser condition than when we shipped it may be subjected to a restocking fee.

We do not charge a restocking fee to non-defective, non-faulty returns where these have been authorised for return.
