The Complete Series 4 (1978)

Returning home at the end of World War One, Jack Ford finds his home town of Gallowshields on Tyneside, gripped by decline and unemployment. Jack soon falls in with the Seaton family and is determined to make his mark on the world. Bill is left with a broken back after a mining accident so Bella decides to open a shop in order to make ends meet. Meanwhile Jack and Dollie get married. An old army colleague of Jack's tries to recruit him back into the army.
